How OLD Are you? How to Test Your Biological Age

there's something in our brain that,allows us to recognize someone's age,have you ever noticed how interesting,that is that we have like this innate,ability like if you were to look at,someone you're generally going to be,able to guess their age within 10 or 15,years,it's something that allows us maybe from,a biological perspective to understand,how old someone is maybe they're,viable as a mate maybe they're not based,upon their age maybe it's truly,biological like that but it does go,further than that you see we also have,to understand what causes aging because,i think there's a common misconception,in the research or at least how the,research is understood with aging we,think that it's just getting older and,dying but there's a lot of different,pieces that go into aging and that's why,you can't just look at someone and say,okay they're 76 years old so they're old,that's their chronological age if that,76 year old person has the genetic,makeup and has taken care of their life,and has the right lifestyle to actually,be younger from a biological standpoint,who's to say they can't be 76 years on a,calendar,but maybe are 55 years old as far as,their cells are concerned right so we're,going to break down what's called,biological age it's pretty complicated,but i'll give you a really distilled,version so you can understand also some,very practical things that you can try,and even an interesting website that is,produced to input some of your like,blood chemistry data to actually figure,out your biological age so let's go,ahead and break it down so when we look,at the scientific term aging clocks,it's looking at multiple different,things now to make a very very,complicated thing very simple i want you,to imagine for a minute that there was,only one thing that causes aging now,it's funny because back in the 90s we,actually thought that this one thing was,the main thing that caused aging,oxidative stress so let's take oxidative,stress as an example if we were to know,that oxidative stress were,hypothetically the only cause of,cellular aging,it would be pretty easy for us to look,at biomarkers and find oh the biomarkers,for oxidative stress are high this,indicates that this person's biological,age is probably high right it would,allow us to determine their age much,easier because there's only one data,point,however it's not that simple there are a,lot of moving pieces and we're gonna,break it down more now what's,interesting is there was a man named,august weissman who a while back,proposed that maybe aging was genetic,like puberty maybe like were,pre-programmed to go through puberty a,specific age maybe we're pre-programmed,to die and age at a certain age,which does make a lot of viable sense,however when you start thinking about,what's called like evolutionary pressure,there would be a lot of evolutionary,pressure for gene mutation and all kinds,of things so there's some flaws to that,theory although it still does hold a,little bit of merit well let's lo

hello my name is julian grenier and i'm,really delighted to be opening this,short 20 minute video which is all about,the progress check at age 2 in the eyfs,and i've been working on this video with,my colleague megan pacey,so what will we be covering in this,video first of all we're going to be,thinking about what is the progress,check at age 2 with the changes to the,eyfs,how and why has the guidance been,revised,how can we make sure that we reduce any,unnecessary paperwork that's associated,with the progress check at age two,lots of us who are working with,two-year-olds have been worried about,how they're doing because of covid19 how,can we use the check to help children,bounce back from the pandemic,we're going to be thinking about,integrated reviews where practitioners,work closely with nhs professionals,we're going to be talking with some of,those practitioners who do this work,we're going to have a particular focus,on special educational needs and,disabilities and finally we're going to,hear some concluding words from,professor iram siraj,hello i'm megan pasey and i'm an,associate of sheringham nursery school,and children's centre,i'm going to introduce what the progress,check at age 2 is all about,the progress check at age 2 is a,statutory assessment of children's,development carried out when children,are aged between two and three,early as practitioners review a child's,level of development and provide parents,and or carers with a short written,summary focusing in particular on the,three prime areas set out in the ufs,framework those are communication and,language personal social and emotional,development and physical development,the progress check it too identifies a,child's strengths and in areas where,progress is less than typically expected,it can help practitioners to develop a,targeted plan to support the child this,is especially important,if there are emerging issues or concerns,or an identified special educational,need or disability,the check can be supported by using,non-statutory guidance documents,including the development matters,document and what to expect in the early,years foundation stage guide for parents,so let's talk a little bit about the,revised guidance for the progress check,at the age of two,the reforms to the eyfs became statutory,on the 1st of september 2021 and impact,all early years providers in england,the key aims of the reforms were to,improve the child outcomes at age five,particularly in early language and,literacy and reduce unnecessary,paperwork so that teachers and,practitioners can spend more time,supporting children through rich,curriculum activities,given the changes to assessment practice,that the eyfs reforms encourage the,existing guidance for the progress check,at age two also required updating so,that content so that it continues to be,in line with government policy,to revise non-statutory guidance set out,three main purposes of the progress,checker age two,firstly a partnership with parents,pra

Quantifying Biological Age: Blood Test #1 in 2022 (Test #35 Since 2015)

earlier this week got blood tested for,the first time in 2022 and note that,this is my 35th blood test since 2015.,so with that in mind what's my,biological age so when entering data for,the nine biomarkers on morgan levine's,phenotypic gauge calculator which is a,metric that's used to calculate,biological age we can see that my,phenotypic age or my biological age is,32.6 years which is 16.4 years younger,than my chronological so a couple of,quick notes uh quests high sensitivity c,reactive protein measurement was less,than 0.3 milligrams per liter so crp,could be 0.3 as i've entered here but it,also could be some value less than 0.3,as that's below the detection limit for,their assay also note that all blood,test data from the lab is provided at,the end of the video so if you're,interested in seeing that check it out,and also if you have your own blood test,data you can calculate your own,biological age using phenoage with a,link that's provided in the video's,description all right so one blood test,is interesting but for more context,let's have a look at biological age,results since 2020 which is what's shown,here with morgan levine's phenotypic age,or biological age on the y-axis plotted,against time so in 2020 i measured six,times and my average biological age over,those six measurements was 35.6 years,similarly i tested six times in 2021 and,again my average uh pheno age or,biological age was 35.6 years so we can,see that for the recent test 32.6 this,is my best value over these 12,measurements over the past two years and,i also have three measurements from 2018,to 2019. this data 32.6 is also better,than those three measurements so this is,my lowest biological age result using,phenoage over 16 tests since 2018.,now there's an interesting trend or,potential trend going on in this data,and note that my first measurement in,2021 was also very good and my lowest,value for the year,but note that this was taken in early,march so march 1st of 2021 so this,raises the issue of whether my best data,may be a seasonal trend with the best,data in the beginning of the year,relative to the other parts of the year,so to assess that let's look at 2020,data and interestingly uh the same trend,is apparent so my best or lowest,biological age values were for the first,two tests in 2020 34.6 years and 33.5,and these were tests that were taken in,february and march of 2020. so whether,this plays out uh for 2022 and beyond uh,we'll see,all right so is there room for,improvement how can i improve the the,data for these nine biomarkers so prior,to this test over the 15 tests prior to,this test my average phenoage reduction,relative to my chronological age was,close to 12 years so 11.9 years younger,than my chronological age as an average,for each test over that 15 test period,now 16.4 years is i think as close as as,close to as good as it gets for me maybe,others can reach a lower level but i,think this is pretty close to as good as,it gets for me i may be able to r
