How to Set up an Abandoned Cart Email on Shopify

hey what's going on today's episode we are going to set up the abandoned cart,email that's built in within Shopify let's get into it alright so the first,thing that we want to do is once you log into your Shopify store you're in the,dashboard you want to go to settings and then you want to click on checkout on,check out there's gonna be a lot of options in there where you can change a,lot of different things but we're gonna keep scrolling until we see abandoned,checkout which is right here within abandoned checkout all you want to do is,make sure that you check mark automatically send abandoned check out,emails and then you can choose whether to send it to anyone who abandoned,checkout or just email subscribers who abandoned checkout so the email,subscribers are ones that actually put their email within the checkout process,and then you also have a chance to choose when you want to send it the,recommended is 10 hours it really depends on the type of products that you,have and what you're selling in your store but they give you those four,options one hour six hours ten hours or 24 hours now in order to customize an,email you want to click on customize email button right here when you click,on that it's really gonna give you the HTML body text which might be a little,bit daunting at first when you see all that it just looks like a bunch of code,and a bunch of little different things in there so really the only thing that I,would be comfortable for you to change within the email body will be just,certain sentences within the code so for example you can see right here if we,click preview we can actually check out how the email looks right now so it says,a little bit treats you left items in your cart hi Bob,you added items to your shopping whatever etc as a sentence in there and,then the rest is gonna have automatically trouble if is gonna know,what items they had in their cart and that email is gonna send those items,along with this texts now in order to change some of this text,right here we can just kind of go over here and see where that text is located,and then just change it so for example you'll see here that some of the text,kind of repeats itself so you'll see you left an item in your cart and then it,says you left items in your cart so then the code actually here tells you that if,it's just one then we want the verbage to match that one if else so if you have,more than one item in your cart then you use the plural version of that so you,will see that throughout this but let's say that my store little bit streets,only sells dry bones so instead of saying item for example if I wanted to,customize this a little bit you can say you left a bone and your cart and then,the plural will be you left say some bones in your cart and little things,like this actually make the experience of your store in the abandoned checkout,email just a little bit more customizable to your store so doing the,little things like that it's kind of cool so you can change t

this video is going to be about my,shopify abandoned cart email template,i'm going to walk through how to set up,your recovery email and show you my,template and then you guys can use this,if you choose to on your own store the,reason why i'm making this video is,because i've been doing shopify now,since 2019 well i guess ecom since 2019,and in the past my recovery rate was,probably around three or five percent,with email and now,ever since i've you know changed this,over the last one or two years i've been,making adjustment to optimize it it's,been consistently converted at between,17 and like 26,with email and this is going to be a one,of two parts here is the next one it's,going to be about text recovery emails,so stay tuned for that so to get to your,shop if i check checkout email um,recovery section you're going to go to,your homepage and then go to settings,and click on it,once you click on the settings it's,going to take you to this page and for,the sake of privacy and protecting my,store and all my information all the,stuff is blurred out over here but on,the left side of your screen after you,click settings on the homepage it takes,you to this page and on the left side,you click on checkout,once you click on checkout you're going,to be taken to a page like this and,you're going to scroll all the way down,to the bottom of this page until you see,the abandoned scar checkout section you,can control f in your computer and find,it as well,so this is what the abandoned checkout,email section look like and this is the,settings that i have turned on for my,store specifically so i send abandoned,card um i send the band and check out,emails automatically i send them to,anyone who abandoned their checkout and,i send it after one hour,when i click customize email you guys,are gonna see my template and i'm gonna,actually put this in the description so,you can copy and paste it and edit it,how you feel you need to,so,this is what my,recovery email template looks like i'm,not sure what this looks like on a brand,new store because i've,changed this so many times or optimize,it like i said so many times,consistently of the past year but it's,very simple um,these things you don't want to mess with,this at all because this is just,your code for the automatic information,that shopify is going to use to pull the,generated email,um what you can change is anything else,down below so this is my specifically,it's very simple and it just says,first the i actually edited the subject,line so it'll put in the bill in first,name,um so whatever let's say his name the,person's name is bob or one thing you,would just say bob what happened that,would be the the subject line of your,email that comes from your branded um,your branded email,and then,you go down and this only happens if,someone does have an abandoned car,checkout and they had at least one item,in their cart so this if you have free,stuff that you have in your store like,sign up or whatever then,it won't get

hey guys ryan here again this video is,specifically for people who have,e-commerce websites so this is not a,video,just for amazon sellers this time so i'm,trying something a little bit,different for the youtube channel the,topic today is essential e-commerce,abandoned cart reminders,and this is for anyone who has an,e-commerce store these are,really key high roi items that you,should have,on autopilot in your store when somebody,comes to your store,they start the checkout process and they,don't finish it i have a couple,different things that i use,to automatically follow up and make sure,that we're,reminding these people to complete the,checkout process without,annoying them and i use two particular,things to do that i use email,and i use sms sms being like text,messaging,right and text messaging is extremely,effective,the trick is you have to do it in a way,that it's not annoying and you have to,set up some things in your shopify or,your ecommerce system to collect,the phone number at the right time so,i'm just going to cover,what these reminders are and it's going,to be very quick just a couple slides,so i consider these like foundational,must-have things in every e-commerce,store so i wanted to cover this,on my youtube channel i also have other,emails that i send out that aren't,abandoned cart emails,that you know get people to come back to,my store educate them on other products,i'm not going to cover that probably on,my youtube channel i'm just going to,cover these because i want,you guys to get a quick win i'm going to,try to keep this as simple as possible,so that you guys can just go in,tap a couple buttons and hopefully get,an roi on your time here okay,so the tools that i use i use clavio,which is a crm,customer relationship manager software,and it's basically an email,autoresponder that has all your,customers information how much they,spend,their name their address their phone,number clavio's really cool because it,can email and it can also text message,people,the other tool that you can use if you,don't have a crm that can,automatically send text messages is you,can use sms bump,and to be perfectly honest with you i,use sms bump and i use clavio even,though clavio has,text messaging built in i just don't,find that it's consistently,firing the text messages when people,abandon their carts,and sms bump does so sms bump,is something i still use the fee is,pretty low and i got a pretty immediate,roi,on using sms bump you can see here just,within a week,of having this on i actually earned you,know several hundred dollars in,abandoned carts,and that's pretty sick that's pretty,substantial that pays for the,monthly fee that i incur to have that,the text messages that you send out,through sms bump i think they're just,like a couple cents,per text i loaded up my account with,just like 40,and i've been sending tons of text and,it's not even close to being depleted,yet so,very affordable and very effective so,with that said,let's go over exactl

hi i'm sam a marketer here at jilt,and in this video i'm going to show you,how to set up an email series,so we can recover abandoned carts at,your ecommerce store,so before we get into building our email,series i do want to take a sec to talk,about abandoned carts,and look at a few of the key stats that,show why it's so important to use emails,to recover them first roughly 70,or so of ecommerce shopping carts are,abandoned that can mean hundreds or,thousands or tens of thousands of,dollars in lost revenue for your store,every month,but you can get some of that back at,jilt we found that you can recover,about 15 to maybe even 20 of your carts,with the right email series,and every abandoned cart recovery email,you send is worth four dollars and,eighty cents,that's not per conversion that's revenue,for every email you send the most by far,of any type of email so to recover,all that lost revenue we're gonna set up,an email series that hopefully entices,your customers to come back to your,store to finish their checkout,and to boost your sales so i'm gonna set,up my three email series uh in,yeah jilt because that happens to be my,favorite email marketing platform,and i will take you through all three of,the emails and we'll look at what we're,using them for,so this is an automated email see we'll,click on automations right there,and that means we'll set it up once and,then the machines will handle the rest,from there,all right now i'm going to click on new,automation,it's cart recovery we'll call this cart,recovery,how it is done friends of mine that's,for internal use and did not need to be,that long and i will click create,campaign,so when we get to this screen you see,jill has automatically created the three,email series for you,show you a few other things segmentation,rules,jilt sets up the rules automatically so,this is going out to the right customers,after they abandoned the cart they,abandoned at least one minute ago we,don't want to send them to people who,abandoned them too long ago so at most,21 days,we have our first our first email here,our second email here and our third,email here,because we're gonna focus on the first,email it is scheduled to go out,one hour after automation entry that,means one hour after someone abandons,their cart they're gonna get this first,email,i want to remind them pretty quick,that's why we're going to do it within,an hour we want to do it while it's,still fresh in their mind but we don't,want to do it so quickly,that they think we're like stocking them,while they were shopping in our store,because no one wants that,you'll also notice right here we have a,thing called liquid merge,tags that's how we can use customer,information so here in the subject line,it would use the customer's first name,if we don't have,their first name it would say hey there,so it'd be either,joe did you forget something or hey,there did you forget something,and now we can edit this email,what we've got right here is just your,basic def

what's up guys I hope you guys are,staying safe out there because things,are getting a little crazy and if you're,watching this video maybe you want to,improve your ecommerce store or maybe,you're thinking about starting one so,we're gonna talk about how to recover,abandoned carts using MailChimp it's a,super simple automated campaign that it,can create that it is super super,powerful the most powerful campaign I,have and that all the years that I've,been doing this so let's get started,here we are on MailChimp all you have to,do in the top left corner is create,email and you want to select automated,ecommerce turn on abandoned cart email,it's that simple if you don't see that,option is because your ecommerce store,is not linked to your MailChimp and I'm,going to do a tutorial on that but once,you are here you either can create a,single email or an email series it's up,to you I have a tutorial an email series,if you're gonna check that out I'm gonna,put the link below or above all you have,to do is name your campaign and select,your link store in this case I already,have that campaign going it's already,selected and then click begin and on,this page if this is the first time,you're doing this you're gonna see a few,different things you're gonna see a lot,more read access and instead of pause,and edit you're gonna see start sanding,that's the only difference but once you,select the trigger in my case one hour,after they abandoned their cart and,maybe they're been in their car because,they're in the bathroom shopping and,they're done and they just put their,phones in the pocket they didn't mean to,abandon the cart but they they laughter,the cart open they're from that's the,name of my business and then the subject,I actually got an email with that exact,subject and with the emoji and I thought,it was really effective what have we,done and then,a little sad face that works really well,for me and if you know why this this,specific subject line works so well,please comment in the comments below I'd,love to hear why this works so well but,here instead of at a design you're good,just gonna see design your email and,once we go to preview I didn't change,anything from the suggested MailChimp,template for this at all and it's been,working pretty well for me but maybe,it's time for some update so the Hatter,is just my logo and I do reiterate that,free us shipping on orders of $35 or,higher just so they know maybe they're,looking at an item that's more expensive,than $39 your case might be different,and then I do offer a 10% off coupon,code for them to go back to their cart,and take an extra 10% off their order,that that's why this email works so well,in my case because I offer them a,benefit to go back to their cart that's,it then you're just gonna see save,instead of nothing and it's saved and,again like I said instead of pause and,edit you're gonna see start sanding,that's all you have to do it's that,simple this is an extremely powerful,campaign and I st

an abandoned cart automation workflow is,a feature that can be used when you,connect your shopify or woocommerce,store to your melee lite account it's,identical to a regular automation,workflow but it is strictly triggered,when a customer abandons their cart in,your store once you integrate your,metalite account with woocommerce or,shopify you will find ecommerce,automation triggers available in your,workflow editor one of these triggers is,abandoned cart to create an abandoned,cart email automation navigate to the,automation page click new automation,give your workflow a name and let's,start building,in the sidebar of your workflow editor,click the ecommerce triggers tab select,the store you'd like to create this,automation for,select a banded cart and set the amount,of time you want your workflow to be,triggered after the customer abandoned,the cart and then click save,click the plus icon and let's start this,workflow with an email,so once the abandoned cart flow is,triggered after the amount of time you,set up the customer will receive a,reminder email about their cart,now let's quickly design this email,give it a name in a subject line and i'm,going to leave the rest of the,information as is,now here you can design it from scratch,use one of your templates or use a,recent email but,this time i'd like to show you the,templates i'm going to choose the,e-commerce series templates from the,drop-down,and i'll choose the abandoned cart,number one template,once you choose the template you'll end,up in the drag and drop editor and here,you can edit all of the elements change,your logo and add the products but for,the purpose of this tutorial i'm just,gonna leave it everything as is,note that all abandoned cart emails will,be created in the drag and drop editor,and will automatically contain an,abandoned card block that will be,populated with the items in the cart of,each subscriber,if you click on the edit icon you'll be,able to change the orientation of the,products set the maximum items per email,edit the text on the button and include,the prices,in the settings you'll be able to modify,the design add padding change the fonts,and colors and and if you want to have,more than one abandoned cart block in,the email i recommend checking this box,so you don't need to edit the design to,each one of these blocks,click done editing and now we're back at,the automation workflow page and you can,continue adding more actions and,conditions and steps just like a regular,automation workflow but for the purpose,of this video i will just save and,activate this workflow,note that once you activate the,abandoned cart workflow it will activate,only the first time a subscriber joins,the group,your abandoned card automation is active,and it's ready to go and you can read,more about this topic in our knowledge,base thanks for watching make sure to,click the bell button below so you don't,miss any new tutorials you can also find,us on facebook instagram twitter and,subsc
